Promise ring can be defined in a number of ways. Some defines it as pre engagement ring i.e. a ring which signifies a commitment to a monogamous relation; other defines it as a purity ring that signifies a pledge to sexual avoidance until marriage. It is a symbol of devotion to some sort of relationship. These rings are bestowed to symbolize promise that a person makes with another person. Promise rings has several meaning such as:

  • I will be faithful to u.
  • I will return to u.
  • I will keep your secret.
  • I love u.
  • My intention is to marry you but I am not yet ready to become engaged.
  • I will always be there for you.
  • You rare my one and only one valentine.

Promise rings can be given by both gender of the society to the opposite gender. There are promise rings  for men as well as matching promise rings. Any ring can be a promise ring. It depends upon the intention by which we are giving it to our near and dear ones. However most of the promise ring features small diamond. If the promise ring is wider than the giver can engrave his/her name or the promise he had made to the person on the ring. However while giving a promise ring, it is better to communicate with the person to whom you are giving the ring. This is said so in order to avoid confusion and inconvenience which finally result in the unhappiness creating bigger gulf in between the people in a relation. The above saying is all because one should know the reason why the ring has been given to him/her and do not mistook with some other cause. Thus one can say it is the most convenient way to give promise to somebody.
